The only way to enforce some order in a multicultural society is tyranny.
Rome at the time of Augustus saw a drastical change in few decades from being composed of native romans to being flooded with slaves from all around the mediterranean sea (gauls, iberians, greeks, egyptians, etc...).

It incredibly enriched the patricians but impoverished the local citizens who couldn't compete with the economy of scale and free labor imported by aristocrats. Those citizens went from owning land and a farm to being bankrupted and forced to live in the cities on gibs and gig jobs.
It was the first globalization of history.

See the pattern here? Bezos, the Walton, Gates, Zuckerberg, Brin, Soros, etc... They're our modern equivalent of aristocrats.
