What are the scenarios if mining company around decides to halt stock trading due to capital raising?

Also have to say that before that trading halt announcement the stock got +40% gain, anyway, does it usually mean that things are going forward and so the share price will climb higher or the price will decrease right after opening?

So my friend gave me a thousand dollars to open a td ameritrade account. He wants to see who can make the most in 2 months. If i win I get to keep 1/2. Seems like the only way to gain is to bet pretty big on just a couple trades since they're $10/trade.

Anybody have a tip for a risk free $400-600 gamble?
