You know Ethereum right? Well you can build a lot of things on top of Ethereum, including your own token. To make your own token on Ethereum, you need to follow some kind of standard -- a protocol. Basically this standard ensures that your coin will a) work and b) will be an open source standard. So you can build many kinds of token, such as a normal currency (ERC20 asset), or you can build a non-fungible token, that's basically a fancy way of saying "collectible". The latter is an ERC721 asset, and it can also be traded like an ERC20 asset because they both have standardized transfer() functions that allow you to transfer them from one ethereum address to another.
