The value provided by diversification has been greatly exaggerated. Compare investing in a couple of quality coins that steadilyly grow with investing in 100 coins. It's also much easier to buy/sell at optimal times when you have to focus on not that many things.

Not really a lot, when things go to shit they usually go to shit together. Pic related, a diverse portfolio isn't actually too helpful there.
