Yes. In addition to what other people have said, make sure you're honest with yourself about what kind of energy level you want your dog to have. Do you want them to be very energetic and play with them for a couple hours a day? Or do you want something lazy?

I for instance am extremely lazy, so I picked a greyhound, which are actually very lazy and only require one good 20-30 min walk a day, although it's good to get into a sprint every once in a while.

Tldr, make sure you and your dog's energy levels match. Also I recommend greyhounds, they're nice dogs.
