Self sufficiency is good to a point but some of us are too poor, sickly, or old to make a really good run at it. Sadly, some may not make it. As crime gets worse some of us may fall victim to severe injury or death. All that we can do is the best we can to better ourselves and if possible, limit charity to our tribal in-groups as the battle for survival gets more intense. We will emerge on the other side wealthier or we will persish having tried our best.
