>Do we have a timeframe for when the atomic swaps will be kicking in or is it best to just play it by ear.

Atomic swaps PROTOCOL drops in Q4 2021 but then it it'll probably take another 6-12 months to get the UX client/wallet and price discovery tech sorted out.

>Also I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by atomic swaps.

AS enable two anonymous users, in this case BTC and XMR holders, to seamlessly and trustlessly exchange their coins directly without any intermediary. Think of it like P2P file sharing, except with crypto. This is significant for Monero because it means getting delisted/banned wouldn't won't stop people being able to acquire and use it.

So, it would go something like this:

Say Monero is banned and its illegal to sell it on exchanges. No problem.

1. You buy BTC on Coinbase or wherever

2. You send it to your AS wallet

3. Select swap offer and initiate the process and let it run.

4. You now have XMR

>Also I've only heard pros from so far and nothing has no downsides. What would you say are the cons for this coin that could be detrimental to Moneros price, other than the gov stifling?

Theoretically, some kind of fundamental flaw in the code that can be nefariously exploited to cripple Monero or saturate its supply. Other than that, network attacks, tho the devs are getting a lot of practice with mitigating those recently.
