You have no idea what I am talking about.
American companies have been pulling huge profits for almost a decade, but have no cash on hand for rainy weather. They've been doing massive stock buybacks and acquiring rivals at high valuations. I work for such a major company. Almost every company is awash in high levels of debt.
The airlines have been making billions in profit, and most of them have vastly more debt than their paper value.
All the buybacks were to make Hedge funds rich, not to save anything from tanking.
