They thought it was the top when cnbc did a news segment (a SINGLE segment) on bitcoin, like what happened at the top in 2013
They thought the top was $3,000 at the end of summer slump because the chart looked kinda like the bubble meme chart

Yes there will be a bubble this year, and yes there will be a crash, but at this point it's unlikely that we'll get back to these prices again except possibly at the very bottom of the next bear market in 2022

This is true, however people *could* have cheaper transactions on BTC, it just hasnt been worth the effort at this point because everyone uses centralized exchanges or just holds their coins in cold storage. Very few people use it day to day to buy shit because of horrid tax laws. By the time people actually want to do lots of day to day transactions on BTC people will finally have motivation to use lightning or other L2s on BTC.

I dont think thats going to happen for another few cycles because until then it just makes more sense to hoard BTC because the returns are still too large. When BTC's appreciation slows down to like 10% a year people will be happy to use L2s for day to day transactions on BTC.
