It makes a chart with a lot of action much easier to read. The percentage between the prices at the top of the chart are the same as the percentages between the same distant prices at the bottom of the chart. So if you look at the low prices areas and judge how far the price moves for 10% you can look at the top of the chart and it's the same 10% for an equal amount of eyeballed distance.
