Does anyone have any stories about the time they escaped wage slavery through hard work and intuition?

Is getting a masters in comp sci worth it for a brainlet psych major? I learned to code python reasonably well (mt stupid) and I can't get enough of those coolio youtube tutorials to learn all sorts of new skills with it. I want to go into a field where I can use python like data science, web dev, whatever, but I can't help but think no one will take me seriously without a degree. Whatchu think?
