Yes, opals are valuable, youd want natural gemstones. Stay away from diamonds They are artificially inflated, the only exception is red and pink natural diamonds, those have gone up 400% in the last years. Also check out moldavite its a cool green meteor which is getting rare and has gone up 10x.
Rubies are the most scarce out of all the gemstones.

You would need to know what you're doing regarding carats and clarity... Theres a lot of shady stuff in the gem industry. Also nowadays man made gems are flooding the market and are competing with the natural gems, lab grown gems are just like the natural ones while being a fraction of the price so many people are opting for those instead.

I think antique jewelry is a good investment but it takes a while to sell.


The super rich invest in that kind of stuff. Something rare collectible with a low supply is likely to go up in time. Like a rare antique painting, they know you can print more money or mine more gold but you can get more antique collectible pieces of history.
