if you're involved in a verbal dispute and someone feels threatened, even if firearms were never present or mentioned, and that person feels threatened enough, they can report to law enforcement that you are a known gun owner. they can claim it is likely you can become emotionally compromised and get your guns and use them; the police will come to confiscate them. this is a real law now.

why tell people? what does it gain or benefit you? it's pure liability.
i don't own any firearms of course, law enforcement will protect me after i'm placed on hold for 35 minutes when i call 9-1-1 and the cops take another 45 to show up.
