Not really, it's usually focused on a specific region or world view. Where is Taiwan? Where is the Capital of Korea? Is it called Spain or Al Andalus?

The knowledge of geography revolves around worldview, and that determines how you interpret a map. The question is whether or not you are capable of interpreting a map.

Try asking the question of how many continents there are and see how many different answers you get. Then you can get into what continent australia is on, what continent is new zealand on?

I agree there, but I was always someone that could process a map and figure out how to use it. I didn't do this until later in life though because it wasn't necessary. I know a lot compared to the average person when it comes to geography, not because I'm smart and they are stupid though. It's just because I've used it more often in a lot of different contexts.
