I spent something like 8 years paying off my bad debts and finally made the last payment about a fortnight ago.

Feels pretty good, man. The best way I can describe it is a comfy feel. Because I still have financial stresses of course - my car is about to break down and I need to buy a new one ASAP but don't have the money - but because I don't have the debt repayment pendulum swinging past my neck every month anymore the situation seems far more controllable than it would have previously. In other words, I can see an end to struggle ahead of me, whereas before it seemed a constant and eternal thing.

I also feel less pressure to work hard, which is probably a bad thing.
