what's the reason against fixing a loaf of bread at $1 +/- 20%. I feel it would keep a lot of prices in perspective. Only thing i've heard from a friend is "a lot of things would lose value", but doesn't that just mean it would help put a stopper on obvious weirdo price inflation

I'm not calling for the end of free markets, just for prices to correlate to something tangible besides speculation.
