i know alot of people would jump to Jim Simons being the greatest quant, but the true OG quant is a man named Ed Thorp

• 48+ year Wall Street veteran

the man who created the first effective card counting system for BlackJack, master of the Kelly Criterion and discoverer of the Black-Scholes model before Black and Scholes (and was much more effective with it)

achieved an annual 20 percent return for 30 years! dudes a monster

and he is 86 and talks like he is in his 50s
