He's being a dick but as a former smoker I can tell you if you took a month long break you would realize how much of life you are missing out on sitting around stoned.
If you need to take drugs to feel happy there is a fundimental problem with your life, either mental health or broader "why am I even here" issues, and spending money on drugs to solve them is not a good long term solution.
Setting aside all the medical stuff -- how much money do you spend on weed? How much would you have made if you'd invested all of that in a good ETF, let alone a lucky stock pick? You're literally burning money so you can enjoy sitting down and staring at a screen.
Also, if you smoke to much, you'll end up like a Eurekan. You don't want to be a Eurekan!

I only grew up there. I left. Didn't leave the state but went as far north as I could. It's comfy up here. We have our own farmland and power plant. There are no tourists because the roads are all covered in landslides or are themselves sliding into the ocean. Stupid people can't survive outside of "cities" (20k population) and local business is booming because no large company wants to waste money on logistics to the middle of nowhere. The air is clean in a way you can't understand until you leave the city. The trees are big enough to set off gas explosion detectors and don't burn.
And the people are "unique"
I wish some of the local weed companies were public so I could invest. I don't even smoke I just like the people smart enough to make money off of drug addicts and keep them poor
