people don't know how to live in the moment. everywhere they go they drag their life story around with them instead of learning from it and moving on to new opportunites. some people are happy and ignorant, yes, but other happy people are fully aware that the world is a fucked up place and know about the fucked up things that take place within it and yet despite that they still keep a positive attitude because thats the kind of attitude that gets shit done instead of sitting around stewing in the past/being anxious towards the future and wishing it was better.

being sad is normal for a lot of happy people because there's a lot of sadness and suffering in this world. being happy is not sweeping the pain and suffering under the rug, though, it's having the ability to move forward despite hardship and setbacks. if everyone chose love instead of being afraid of one another we wouldn't have nearly the amount of problems that we have as a race but short term gains win out over long term gains for lots of people so that's what we're going to be seeing for a while until people start to change the way they think. all you personally can do is do your best to enrich the lives of yourself and those around you in any way you see fit, you can't change people because they have to do it on their own.
