the problem is deeper than that imo. It is structural and cultural. Looked at Trumps twitter today, he was visiting Afghan troops. Not that that is a problem but it got me thinking, how many times have we been promised to take troops out of Afghanistan? I feel like every politician for the last 20 years has made mention of that. But they will never leave. America can only exist for as long as the world around it is its own playground. If they declared a national state of emergency for failing schools and crumbling infrastructure (long overdue) then foreign aid and military spending would still be the last thing to be cut. They will sooner cut healthcare and toss cancer patients under the nearest bridge instead. And this is not just my opinion, I would suggest that the elite has known this for some time now - why do you think they hide all of their money offshore and get dual citizenships to whatever European country will house them? I do love America, at least I used to - but not in its current iteration as a failing state.

Sorry, I basically classify only 2 social classes (rich and poor) with my analyses because the middle class has become such an obscured and marginalized , not to mention shrinking , class that I don't even consider it to exist anymore. I consider middle class to be anyone making 100-300k (depending on city obviously, america is very large and diverse). Anything less than that is working class. Anything under 50-60k is working poor. Some might argue this but the reality is that price of basic goods and housing in the last 30 years have absolutely skyrocketed.
