Lots of puts and straddles going up today against the semis ... I hate that I've missed out on the semiconductor run... my only play was a mrvl call and that's managed to go DOWN while everything else 5G and chips goes UP!

The reason to buy individual stocks is to increase your exposure to those individual stocks... You should do it if you're really bullish on them in particular, or you think they're undervalued with respect to the rest of the index.

If you'd have bought extra apple during the trade war FUD, or extra LMT at pretty much any time, you'd have been rewarded more than just having owned only the index.
