It's true, I have a Masters in Mech. Eng. and can't agree more. Money is ok I guess, but if you wage it against other jobs which pay similar on average not only do they require less studying/education but are probably more enjoyable.
I also cannot stress how fucking boring the average engineer job is. If you did or plan to become an engineer the only way you're gonna make it worth it is if you either

>start your own business
requires lots of capital depending on field and size
>go work as an independant consultant
requires connections from time in biz and you need to really now your shit

If I could do it all over again I'd probably go study finance or some other ez shit and have like a 4.0 GPA and get connected into some cushy job.
If you're really passionate about engineering do it I guess, but don't gobble up state funded STEM propaganda like I did.
