I really don't see the point in getting one of these. They're not 100% reliable and they're not cheap. May as well go for the full XRF machine if you're going to be handling loads because at least with that you know what you're going to get.

I would personally just go with pure silver coins because when the crack up boom happens they will be the first to go, then the junk silver coins. In today's age we have non destructive technology to find out the metal content of coins, which will become more common in retail stores so junk silver coins will have their place, but it will be long after the financial collapse when you will be able to capitalize on them.

Just go down to your local jewelers who accept precious metals and pay them a bit of money to do a test on your metals.
