When I look at John McAfee, I see a nerd desperately trying to be cool so hard that he almost believes he is. He was just a little nerd in high school, a real brainiac, but he always felt like he was left out by the cool kids. He wanted to be cool, too. It seems like, somewhere along the way, probably when he was very young, he fell under the wing of the wrong role model.

It was probably some thirty-year-old, washed up, divorced, hooker-fucking, coke-sniffing, alcoholic veteran who'd been born hot shit fucking all the bitches like a real chad but then let his ego get out of control and just shitted his life up hard.

So, fourteen-year-old (we're guessing) Johnny starts hanging out with this guy at his trailer down by the train tracks, where the old coot (I'm 42 as I write this btw) offers him all kinds of stuff -- crazy stories, a misanthropically cynical outlook, porno mags, liquor, marijuana and other drugs, the list goes on... but, mostly, "friendship."

Here was someone "cool" who accepted little Johnny and took him on as a student of coolness.

Only it wasn't really like that at all. It was just a sad and lonely old man, totally solipsistic & narcisistic, practically sociopathic, slowly dying alone in his dead end life, his friends & family having long since turned their backs on him, rattling along on autopilot to anyone that listens (or just the empty space around him in Johnny's absence). Hell, he probably thought Johnny was a turd, and "taught" him how to be "cool" as a sad little joke for himself to laugh at between crying and blacking out from the alcohol late at night as he tosses and turns, sleepless, on his stained mattress without sheets, alone.

Johnny almost senses the truth, but mistakes it for the whole *world* being shit, not just this shitbag who's taking advantage of a lonely outsider to have some company (at he poor kid's expense, too).

I'll bet he fed little Johnny acid or mescaline, fucked his brain, then fucked his mouth.
