I bought an online course about a year ago for ~$1,000. At the checkout there was the option to pay in installments, and I selected 3x $350 over 3 months.
I paid 1 of those $350. Then I shut down that debit card number and got a new card, so the payments didn't go through to them after I did that. I had unlocked 2/6 modules of the course with that 350 payment. When they realized they weren't going to get the 2nd/3rd payments, they locked my course-account so I couldn't access it.
Then we emailed back and forth in which I basically said I can't afford it.
Then about a year later, now, they are emailing me threatening me with "collections". They're a US company and I'm in the UK. Does their threat have any weight? What happens if I get a letter through my door with exorbitant interest/fees? Is it just bullshit and I should just ignore since no contract was signed? (Unless you count clicking the check box on their site before the purchase as a contract...)
