Not completely true.
I actually know of guys who have started charter flights with their faster cessnas to fly rich boomers around who don’t want to fly airlines.
With all the fucking around at airports lately it’s actually just as fast to fly in a Cessna and not as cost prohibitive as one thinks. I’ve flown from central Canada to Phoenix in 9 hours.
Only one fuel stop. Avg speed of 165mph.
