if revolver i would only consider a small 1" j frame or similar in .38 for deep conceal carry or a 6' 357 mag l frame or similar for house defense. ruger gp100, ruger lcr or sw airweight 642 or 686

for 9mm look at a single stack compact for carry or a double stack full size for home defense. sw shield 9, sw mp9, glock 43, glock 17.

those are the best options on the market especially considering bang for buck. most everything else is a meme unless you want to get into the pure joy of target shooting and collecting in which case everything is on the table
