I work at a tech company. I started out fairly new, but it's been a few years and the only person at my company who is at my skill level for my type of work is my boss.

I obviously will not get "promoted" past my immediate boss. It's hard for me to see a way to rank up here, unless I wait for him to be promoted or quit, so that I can take his position.

Is my only option to leave? It sucks because this place is actually nice, but I'm not here for fun, I'm here to advance professionally and make money.
