I would say read "The elements of investing" before starting anything. It's a good book that teaches fundamentals. Once you're ready step it up to "Pragmatic Capitalism" and finally "Sensible Stock Investing." The reason I do it like this is because you should know there are other options out there, some might suit your needs better than stock, and it gives you a good introduction to the market without the bullshit.
