My understanding is that payout is something nodes will agree to for each job. Maybe an API call will be 1 cent/call, maybe it will be 0.1 cent, depends on the smart contract value and length of it.

LINK staked will likely determine whether you are hired/given higher value tasks. If there's a multimillion dollar contract the company is likely not going to give nodes with zero to low quantity of LINK staked. It's likely that people with 100k LINK will be guaranteed to get these high value node jobs which may run at a good pay.
