From a britbong perspective, genuine bonafidey minted coins are superior, as according to British laws and regulations they are considered a genuine form of currency and are thus exempted from Capital Gains Tax, which is the taxation based on the earned value of an item. i.e. an estate, land and things of that kind of nature. A 1oz gold Britannia is 999.9 whatever percent pure now anyways, so you're not losing out in comparison to an ingot which you would be charged capital gains tax upon.
