There must be some process through which these coins reach the normies, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm pretty sure that in this case it was not the memes (even though Holo has great memes), but something else.

with projects like these there are 2 ways it can go:
1. normie FOMO will push the price up and BTFO the whales' sell walls (see OMG's bullrun in 2017 where whales were massacred). In that case you'll make it quite soon, but you have to time the top of the bubble.
2. whales will suppress it for as long as possible to accumulate more. It could take years for it to take off and there will be MANY shakeouts. If you have iron hands, you will make it, but the journey will be rough and it will take a while.
The whales have already dug deep in HOT. Case in point: I was in top 500 wallets at some point, but one day I got BTFO. Thinking it was normie FOMO, I checked the number of new wallets. There were barely 150-200 more wallets than before. Checked the top 1000 holders again. What happened was that a whale or group of whales bought billions (possibly more) HOT and split it into smaller wallets so it appears that there is not one single entity that holds that much of the supply. That was months ago. I have no idea how things are today, but I imagine there will whale shenanigans with this project from now on. TL/DR: hold like a motherfucker and you'll make it.

as a sidenote, once Holo is backed by computational power it would technically be even better than BTC as a currency because it's asset backed. I unironically believe that in the future the only thing that will surive will be Holo + some privacy coins and BTC as a legacy tech that is sometimes used for very high value transactions due to the network security.
