I unironically picture the economy of Death Stranding. Side-hustle industry on steroids.

Money is a strange thing. If you take away the need for survival then you have something of a social tool. You have always been able to buy power, buy sex, buy "love". You can't expand on the limitations of currency and payment systems without also expanding the social tools that go with it. That's why I like the Death Stranding economy. Likes, could be a currency, but it illustrates the social utility of one if it is.

Now people, and clever businesses are free to create and engineer new things around it. Ever heard the joke that you couldn't remake Seinfeld because every single one of their problems is solved with cell phones? The show doesn't work anymore if each of the characters had cellphones. Because so many of the punchlines stem from misunderstanding and lack of communication / access to give someone info.

New jobs, and New money, will break the "Seinfeld" problems of today. They can be silly or serious. But that i think is where future companies will make their fortunes.
