>monero isn't volatile enough to play the lottery with, which prevents me from dreaming about a lambo. Why would I want a less volatile more fungible currency when I could instead buy a shitcoin with no adoption that fluctuates out the ass so I can pretend I'll be a millionare in 2 days?

retarded

Because if you purchase monero you will inflate the price, meaning I will get less as I continue to buy.

I don't really 'hold' it, I just use it like an actual bank account for anything that accepts XMR. I buy more than I use, but I still buy things with it so it slowly accumulates.

Over time I saw the value of XMR continue to go up, there were ups and downs, but if you average in your cost basis over time by just slowly adding what you can, you will come out way on top. You don't "hold for x amount of time" you just have it, use it, gain some utility while staying private.

And that, is the key to an actual currency. Everyone buys shitcoins that have less value that your cumstained pillow because they hope it will skyrocket. In reality, very few if any of these coins have any actual potential value as a real currency, i.e. the entire point of this shit. People buy them not to use, but to speculate and hope someone inflates the value so they can bail. Monero on the other hand has quite a large network of accepting vendors / payment processors, not even factoring in the spook web, leading to great long term prospects and steady growth.

Monero has a clear goal, and a real purpose that seperates it from the rest of the cesspool that is crypto, an actual reason it should exist over other coins. So essentially, just buy it faggot.

I like your response.

First though, I think that attitude of the next big thing is blinding some to longer term opportunities, that require patience, while they chase the dragon of money.

Second, if you want to invest in emerging technologies in a less flip-a-coin, will I be bankrupt? kind of way, then just invest in tech-centric mutual / index funds. $0 minimum buy in, just buy fractions of a 'share' whenever you want, and as technology continues to grow so will your investments.

As for the high barrier to entry. Definitely, but that's kind of how it goes.

I think it's kind of important to realize though, that I can look back and say "damnit what if I invested here" and be sad about my loss of opportunity, but you can say that for so many more opportunities I could've been burned on, and it seems like alot of you are ignoring those burnings, and just running around trying to throw your money at stuff hoping to find wealth.

Sounds like you got lucky. Sounds like that era has passed, and you as well as others are still grabbing at straws to pull whatever is left of 2017 out. But watch out, because you may just get pulled in yourself. RIP your money?

Invest consistently, over time.
Get a roth IRA as soon as possible
Budget out your investments as part of your monthly income before disposable income.
Invest in yourself through certifications, experience, education, etc. and continue chasing a higher paying job.
Don't be stupid.
