Yeah. I saw that story years ago and was fascinated that people would actually turn in their gold when some asshole tells them to. All the talk about gold confiscation made me remember that happened and I wondered if I could get one. Some kind anon pointed me in the right direction and it delivered on Friday.
What get me most is there were thousands and thousands of Italians in the USA that sent their gold rings, and lots of other gold items, to Mussolini and got back an iron wedding band.

In the 30s when Mussolini asked all Italian citizens, everywhere to turn in their gold wedding rings there were many of them who actually did it. In return the government there sent them iron wedding bands with "gold for the fatherland" or some such shit inscribed on it.
They took a whole lot more gold than that but I want one of those rings to remind myself about what the governments around the world will do to get your gold.
I have looked around the internet but I can't find any of them for sale.
