Something that perplexes me is the lack of advertising around Shellproofs.

If they really did manage to generate a proof of small time complexity and small size, it would be absolutely revolutionary for the entirety of crypto, most notably rollups. Same thing applies to Vector, for micropayments. Both massive pieces of tech that are totally non-open-sourced and not even advertised.

Are they just lying about their tech?

Take a look at the team behind blackmoon, one of the guy is the founder of VK (the russian facebook). And guess who bought out the russian facebook a couple of years ago... I'm going to let you take a guess.
