Most wars are fought for reasons of national pride / honor or a great misunderstanding of either your opponents weakness or strength.

Xi is presiding over a great retraction of the Chinese economy, massively collapsing birthrates, extremely high social malaise (connected to birth rates) and increasingly stronger economic competition in SE Asia.

The war with Taiwan WILL happen. Not if or when. XI's entire internal political goal is centered around it. China doesn't give a shit about TSMC or US stock indexes lol. This is about National pride and distraction.

It will be a fucking disaster for China too because despite all the dooming on America Military forces, the US Navy is the ne plus ultra of American power and highly functional. The US navy doesn't have to push back or hold ground, just has to disrupt Chinese naval troop carriers which is easy peasy with attack killer submarines.
