How is it different this time? What makes this time so special? Here's the facts: the debt bubble is enormous, currencies have already devalued to a fraction of their original value, the economy is dependent on credit and the slightest nudge in a deflationary way could signal an economic crisis. The market wants to deflate! And we've seen what's happened before if the inflationary policy is kept up: forced deflation due to hyper-inflation. There's no reason to assume this time is any different from say 1930's. The question isn't "if" there will be a major depression, it's "how long" until it inevitably occurs

Yeah I've read that. Interesting article, very informative. When those coins aren't considered currency anymore (which is anywhere between 1-1,000 years desu lol) he can finally melt them and get nice profits from the nickel though the storage costs are still bloody steep

The market cannot handle deflation, it cannot handle normal interest rates either. A deflationary situation started happening back in March when the 'rona acted as a catalyst for the house of cards to start coming down but due to rampant brrrrr'ing (which is inherently inflationary) the market "recovered". There will be no deflation, because deflation causes immediate suffering for everybody, and dealing with deflation in an honest way is difficult and nobody likes doing difficult things like cutting spending or lowering standards of living for a while. Instead we just print away the problem and opt out for a much slower paced suffering which favors those who have capital and ruins those who do not.
