So you sent in job applications, presumably online. Did you ever follow up any of them in person? Did you call the companies to follow up? How many times did you call them? Did you send them a card thanking them for meeting with you? Did you continue to go to them, day after day, saying that you're following up on your application?

If no, I'm about to drop a knowledge bomb for you sir. All the people in charge, who pull the levers of power, are going to be boomers in 95+% of situations. Simply sending a faceless application to an email address will not make you stand apart.

Think about it like this. There is someone who shows up everyday, telling the boss that they know someone who is hard working and capable for the job. You, on the other hand, have never met anyone who works there, and have no one speaking on your behalf. The boss doesn't know who you are at all. Its not that the insider family chad was any better than you. They've likely met the boss, the boss can picture them in their mind when they think of the job. If you live in tech, go to Silicon Valley. If you want to be an actor, go to Hollywood. You get the idea. Go to the place the jobs are, then pretend its your 8 hours a day full time job to be in person at the physical places of the jobs inquiring about the jobs.
