you say that like its easy, you need to first find that ore, then extract it, then mill and refine the concentrates and finally pour your bullion. Doing this costs a boat load of money, time and energy.

placer mining an ounce of gold a week is actually doable on some rivers in North America, especially on the bars of the fraser river in BC and some rivers like the feather in California. The issue is though, its never consistent, no two river bars are the same, and once you have mined that spot, its depleted until the next major flood action.

You could rig up a rock box or similar device as seen here minus the water wheel. Such tools are very simple to build from wood, all the fittings can be acquired for under $25, the only expensive thing will be your "miners moss". Its a thick carpet that is used to catch the gold particles. Search around locally, you may be able to find some at a decent price.

lets put it this way, one gravel bar on the Fraser river in 1863 produced 20,000 ounces that was recorded. Hundreds of thousands of ounces were never recorded due to the government gold tax at the time of 15%.

Some of the famous workings in California produced double that. Just fucking imagine walking down a creek, looking at the bedrock, and seeing hundreds of ounces just sitting their in the sun.
