/biz/, I have some questions regarding investments and how I should go about making my money work for me over the course of 5-7 years.

I plan on retiring around 2022-2024 at 30-32 years old. Starting in roughly 2017 I will start investing at least 36k into me and my wife's 403b plans and maybe another 5-10k into an undetermined IRA.

What do I invest into for the "mid" term". Investing for the long term is appealing but with me only investing for 5-7 years it won't give my money much time to compile and work for me. I need a simple solution that doesn't involve me just throwing money into savings and getting raped by inflation.
