these two facts are basically accepted as fact by every single trader.

on short term options, almost always, both puts and calls are priced the same. However, on LEAPS or longer term options, there tends to be a bias. i.e. if the market is trending upwards, the price of call options will be higher than puts.

The longer the trend, the more confidence in the trend, and so the larger the gap between put and option prices. Given that the market is reflexive and expectations of price increase exponentially to the actual price increase (i.e price is at $400. Market sentiment target for bulls is $600. but price then goes to $600. Sentiment now is of the opinion that price will go to $900 - +$100 increase from previous etc. etc.). The wider the gap, the more likely you are in a trend.

The question is, can you use long term option pricing to gauge market sentiment and identify when a trend has started?

following kelly criterion;
(bp - q) / b = f*

then provided you win 56 out of every 100 trades and your stop loss is the same as the potential profit, after 1000 trades you will be up 1362x;
> (1 * 0.56 - 0.44) / 1 = 0.12
> (1 * 1.12^560) * (1 - 0.12)^440 = 1362

Given the fact that if you chose random positions and randomly longed or shorted each trade and had stop loss at potential profit you would already win 50 out of 100 trades, then if you throw in some TA and event driven trades you should easily be able to increase the odds to 56 out of 100.

All you need to do then is make ~3 trades a day and after one year you will be at this target.
