"Modern" sovereigns have been minted for two centuries, for circulation originally, as they were used for local and international trade until World War I. They are 22K, and most of them share the same design for the reverse, with St George slaying the dragon by B. Pistrucci, while the obverse has the usual king or queen portrait.

Even if they are technically fractional (slightly less than 1/4 toz) and have some historical value (at least for the older ones), they are so common that you can usually find them among the lowest premium coins here in Europe.
