I have been wagecucking since 22 and I am 32 now. Eventually you come to rely on the constant dull pain of wagecucking. Its been my only companion through this long slog.

The real pain is when you stop wageing for a week and human joy and passion starts to bloom. All the joy will have to be unlearned and forgotten again.

Seriously, I need to know. I regularly see people on here talking about how they have 1m+ or posting portfolios with 500k+. It seems to me this would make those people very rich and outside of the norm. Yet I constantly see posters like this to the point that it seems the average biz poster is absolutely loaded. To read references of 100k+ trades in a casual manner is mind-blowing. Now, I'm not a total idiot. My first reaction to this is to assume most are LARPing. But then again biz probably was into crypto before it boomed, so maybe it really is possible. Please, no bullshit, give me the truth. Is this LARPing or is it for real?

Here you go, anon.

>According to the Notice 2014-21 from the IRS, "virtual currency is treated as property for US federal tax purposes." This means that transactions on digital properties like cryptocurrencies can be taxed as well. To the IRS, it seems that Bitcoin is a capital asset which can be subject to short-term capital gains (if sold after less than a year) or long-term capital gains if sold for a longer duration. The tax rate will be 15-20% based on the value as determined by the fair market price.

https://www.investopedia.com/news/irs-eyes-profits-bitcoin-and-bitcoin-cash-investments/

ALSO, FOR YOU PEOPLE WORRIED ABOUT TAXES ON 2017 GAINS WHEN YOU LOST EVERYTHING IN 2018:
>While any exchange of property triggers a tax event, Section 1031 of the US tax code carves out a niche for a particular kind of property exchange which permits one to defer the capital gain from the exchange until the 1031 property is disposed (sold for USD or exchanged for non-like kind property), so long as the property exchanged is of like-kind.

https://steemit.com/tax/@lpfaust/us-tax-considerations-crypto-to-crypto-trades-trading-bitcoin-and-altcoins

TL;DR Every trade is a taxable event.
HOWEVER.
If you made huge gains in 2017, and then LOST EVERYTHING in January 2018, you can carry your capital gains tax burden from 2017 into 2018 and essentially combine them when you file for 2018, because you have traded for a "likewise asset"(essentially trading one property for another).

Why the fuck do I see so many people referring to their initial "investments" (really speculating, not investing, but whatever) when making decisions?
>"You should pull out your initial investment and hold the rest."
>"Sell if you're still at a profit. Otherwise hold."
What the fuck. I thought biz was supposed to be smart. Do you guys seriously not understand sunk costs? Why the fuck should your initial amount have any bearing?

You told me the coins would go up. Everyone. All of you did. You said Bitcoin would be 25k by New Year's, guaranteed. Then it dropped. You said it was a bull market and the greatest opportunity of a lifetime. You said Bitcoin would be 50k or 100k by the end of 2018. Now it has gone down. You said this was a perfect time to get in and that things never looked better. What is with you? Did I deserve this? Cannot you admit that this is nonsensical and none of you know what is going on? If you are not an economist then how can you profess to have a shred of knowledge about what you are saying? I simply must cut my losses after you degenerative speculators got my hopes up. This is not a criticism of a small group of you. This is an indictment on the entire mentality of the herd. Seriously, take a step back and look at what you have done. Before, in November, in December, you were so certain things were looking up. There was no doubt. You could not have been more wrong. And now that the outlook has changed, now, you finally start proclaiming despair and doom and gloom? Where was this a month ago? It's not reasonable to think as a group and refuse to exercise perspective in such a chaotic market. Do not mistake dumb, blind luck in a random outcome for a successful strategy. You did not earn these coin profits. You should all reconsider this.

I'm not saying anything about the coin itself, I'm just pointing out the obvious that this coin has a proven trend and it's retarded to not follow it.
