My parents often forgot my birthday and on my 18th my dad gave me £1 as a gift.
I always knew my family was poor and didnt earn good money, my parents do have some money and my dad does gamble off his money that he earns but i've come to learn that adults and parents are just trying to make do and almost everyone is struggling with money by living paycheck to paycheck or budgeting their life/going into debt. If my parents make poor financial decisions it is their issue and what they do with their money that they earned doing jobs that most people wouldn't do nor are pleasant or is a great experience doing so for decades is their problem.
So long as i can live in this home rent free and have food to live i am ok with this and the only thing you and i should focus is trying to make do and do what you can to make money yourself and perhaps learn from the experience to be smarter or nicer with money when you spawn offsprings because the simple truth is that this is the reality that we are livinig in right now and that goes for anybody.
