Is there seriously anything I can do from my home with approximately £4 - 5 k that is both related to the financial markets (stocks, ETFs, FOREX), and not massively dependant on luck?

I guess you can take the Peter Lynch explanation and say you believed in the products of the company, but it all seems so bullshit.

When I say not dependent on luck, of course that's impossible, but do people actually respect your investment decisions?

I say this because I kind of want to invest to show I have an interest in financial markets in interviews, but I don't want to look like an idiot and have to justify my decisions when there's no basis
