gemstones are not fungible. Dealing gemstones is different entirely than dealing in fungible things like commodities

If you want to make money: cut gems. Look up black opal direct on YouTube. he buys uncut opals and sells cut opals online.

Make jewelry using gemstones.

Grade gemstones through your own company.

Sort gemstones: meaning buy huge batches of mixed stones and sort them by size and resell in small batches.

Theres a million ways to make money with gems but "investing" in gems if you're not an expert is pure retardation.

I plan on taking a gem setting course this summer. I want to learn diamond setting and hopefully in the next couple years I want to learn watch making.

Picture is a scrap gold watch I bought. It's kind of out of style but I can get around 5x spot for it on chrono24 and I have seen similar watches sold at that price. That's the power of gem setting and jewelry making - to be able to get back the price of gold and stones well beyond spot price.
