That 11 billion in gold was what was confiscated in 1933, and do remember that the fed is privately owned. After it was confiscated it was determined that the US government does not own that gold, but the fed does as collateral against the national debt.
Furthermore, I highly recommend a book or source of information that is not written by the fed, as the fed has it in its best interest to feed you bullshit economic theories that make you think a privately owned central bank is necessary.
I recommend the creature of jekyll island, although there are more books than just this one.
The dollar is backed by debt as money is out into circulation when either the fed buys government bonds (they print money to do this and then expect it to be paid back with interest) and fractional reserve lending (printing money to lend to people)
