Here's what I do:

- no kids
- no car(s)
- no loans/no own property/house if credit would be required
- no credit at all, for no reason
- no credit card
- pay in cash not by card
- don't do subscriptions (especially no netflix/amazon shit and so on)
- buy used stuff (especially in case of books, sometimes in case of tools/electrical equipment/furniture/clothing)
- do not marry (do have gf, if compatible to lifestyle)
- do not own mobile
- do not pay for any web based service, software, virtual service of any kind if possible
- minimize number of hardware (to a fail safe level, of course); i.e. don't own 3 pcs/5 monitors/2 sets of stereo systems and so on
- no eating outside/especially no fast food/instant food
- cook for yourself
- rotate warm and cold food
- no smoking/drugs/alcohol
- no insurances (besides health)
- no holidays/minimizing travel of all kind
- walk, don't drive
- no cinema/no consumer media products (CDs/DVDs/BluRays)/especially no money for anything virtual like software
- do as much entertainment via pc
- do not go for consoles
- plan shopping of all kind (food/clothing/gear) upfront
- keep track of money/spending
- put aside as much money as possible
- do take care of your own money/never let other people take care of it
- do not pay for any financial service
- look for quality entertainment/hobbies that don't require much money:

a) movies/music/games/audiobooks/docus/books/tutorials via usenet/torrent/etc.
b) go for walk/in park/by bicycle
c) read/learn
d) boardgames/pen/&paper rpgs/chess/etc.
