Get a safe made of STEEL that has a mechanical combination lock ONLY. Law enforcement can confiscate keys and ANY LOCK CAN BE PICKED. Brute forcing a good combination lock takes days even with specialized equipment. Also bolt it to the floor, that's mandatory. It's important to understand that the purpose of a safe is to buy you time during a robbery and force a robber to make noise and possibly trigger alarms. If a robber can get in and out with your stuff quietly, that's no good. Any safe can be broken into eventually, but if the robber has to wake you up from a dead sleep with their power tools, you can interrupt him with your shotgun or if you have an alarm, your fat cunt police can show up at their leisure and arrest the robber after they shoot your dog.

Expect to pay about $500 for a decent safe, which is nothing if you're stashing $20k to $40k worth of valuables. Picture related is able to be insured for $20k.
